Wymbush, Milton Keynes-based medical recruiters Cook Investment Group has been named a finalist in one of Britain’s most prestigious business award schemes.
The family-owned company, which supplies locum doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals to the NHS and independent hospitals across the UK and around the world, has reached the finals of the Family Business of the Year category in the SME National Business Awards 2020.
It is particular recognition for the outstanding performance of the Group’s recruitment consultancies in supplying the NHS with front-line staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the peak of the crisis, Group agencies supplied more than 200 hospitals with locum doctors and nurses, particularly those with emergency and acute medicine skills. In just eight weeks, those medical professionals worked more than 100,000 hours alongside their NHS colleagues.
Says Cook Investment Group managing director David Cook: “The awards shortlisting is a real tribute to our recruiters, who worked incredibly hard at what was the most challenging time of their careers.”
It’s the latest of a long run of accolades for Group agencies, including a listing in the the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For survey; the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards; Midlands Family Business of the Year; and Recruiter Magazine’s Investing in Talent Awards.
The business, which employs almost 100 staff, was founded in 2009 by David Cook, his wife Jen and brother Glenn, and prides itself on matching family values and ethics to brilliant client service and career opportunities.
The overall winner of the SME National Business Awards Family Business of the Year is scheduled to be announced at a Wembley Stadium presentation in December.
